Home Tour: A Charleston Classic with Lindsay Cunningham

A lot has changed since then...

A move, a new home - with a layout that suits the rhythm of her young family, two sweet kids, pets, thoughtful renovations, and treasures collected along the way. Each room in her home is chic yet deeply personal, brimming with design choices that feel intentional but never fussy. It’s a home that entertains beautifully, (hello Mahjong club game nights), reflects her creative spirit as a business owner, and tells the story of a life well-lived. And yet some things remain the same: Lindsay’s infectious personality and welcoming nature, her effortless way of hosting, her true appreciation of design, and even Annie, her tiniest pup, who made her debut all of those years ago and is still as camera-ready as ever.

But before we did, we sat down with Lindsay over afternoon coffee (yes, she was making lattes, cappuccinos, you name it, to order) to chat about all things - from her bar cart staples, to her Friday night dinner haunts to her cardinal design rule: if you’re going to wallpaper, do all the walls. Get to know a little bit more about Lindsay below…

Take Ten:

1). In one sentence, describe your dream home:
"If I could pick up my current house and put it on rolling acres on the deep water, I'd never want for anything else."

2). What is your current favorite design trend?
"I'm thrilled that open concepts are fading out!"

3). What's one design faux pas that should be avoided at all costs?
"Please never wallpaper a single wall in a room. Accent walls are a big no-no. Just do the entire thing or don't do anything at all."

A Real Society Social Returns

If there’s anyone who knows how to make a house a true home, it’s Lindsay Cunningham - mom, business owner of Monkee’s Mount Pleasant, designer & founder of Olivia by Livro and Shoplivro, and longtime Society Social friend and customer. She’s been layering color, pattern, and personality into each of her spaces for years. And this isn’t our first time peeking inside - more than a decade after our original shoot, we found ourselves once again stepping through her front door, camera in hand.

"This home perfectly fits my family's rhythm. We lived in it for years before renovating and were very intentional with the layout and design."

Not a single space in Lindsay’s home is overlooked. Every corner feels thoughtfully curated, from the grand gestures like fully wallpapered rooms and collected, art-filled walls to the tiniest finishing touches, like her assortment of glassware and cheeky coffee table accents. What we especially love is how she mixes it all: Society Social favorites paired with heirloom-worthy antiques and playful fabrics layered against timeless designs. Let’s just say we truly didn’t want to leave…

4). Most cherished possession?
"A carved wooden gnome that serves as my front doorstop. My grandmother's brother carved it, and my grandmother had it as her front doorstop my entire life until she recently gave it to me. It reminds me of being in her home as a child, which was my favorite place to be."

5). Favorite bloom?
"Poppies or daisies."
6). What would we find on your bar cart?
"Tequila and red wine, of course."

7). I collect...
"Shells from our family travels, pottery, and art!"

8). Secret small joy?
"Cooking dinner alone in my house with a glass of red."

9). Your one go-to decorating tip?
"Forget rules and timelines. The best spaces are collected."

10). Go-to local restaurant?
"I have 3. Halls, Obstinate Daughter, Leon's."
